I have over ten years experience of working in community and neighbourhood regeneration, and joined Renaisi as part of the Big Local Team.
My experience and skills
My work at Renaisi includes project and programme management network development, community engagement, participatory research techniques, and research and evaluation report writing.
I spent six years as a Co-Director at Chamberlain Forum – a Birmingham based think and do tank – leading peer learning programmes, conducting research and evaluation, and developing hyper local media projects. Most recently I co-managed the collaborative research programme ‘Communities Managing Change’ exploring the themes of Neighbourhood Planning, Community Hubs, Co-operative Councils, Timebanking and Community Networks.
Prior to Chamberlain Forum, I managed the Birmingham Community Empowerment Network – a city-wide network of 16,000 community groups, voluntary organisations and active citizens – where I supported community participation on strategic partnerships, ran participatory budgeting projects and developed constituency, neighbourhood and community of interest networks.
I’m a feminist, and I’m inspired by community empowerment and change led from the bottom up. I love music, and am currently trying to coax my voice back into shape with the Hackney Singers, a brilliant non auditioning choir that started life as an evening class in 1973, and is now 200 plus strong. From little things, big things grow.
